ACN CHAIRMANSHIP ASPIRANT IN OREDO LGA - EDO STATE DISRESPECTS THE PEOPLE.

Yesterday, April 6th, I was invited to be a pert of the panel for the Oredo LGA elections debate in Edo State organized by CLEARVIEW ON CIVIC RIGHTS INITIATIVE alongside some of the great men in the hems of political affairs in the state, a debate which started at 10:00 Am, and I particularly felt embarrassed when the candidates of Labour Party and the PDP showed up at the debate, only to hear that the ACN candidate for no genuine reason wasn't coming. Blaming it on the fact that the organizers of the debate did not obtain an imprimatur as a way of permission from the ACN state cordinator or Secretary General or whoever it might be. I must comment to say that it is a total ignominy, pitiably pathetic that those who are vie to be leaders [oh sorry political office holders] in our society today are not updated on the current status of politico-democracy, where FEARLESS has become the anthem of the people and performance has forged the yearnings and aspirations of the common man. The golden question is, if an aspirant cannot respect the people while he is yet an aspirant, what is the proclivity that he will not be a tyrant if he emerges [which has a possibility of 17 out of 1 billion votes]? please be informed "Nigerians are no longer after money for polls, they need the sincere dividends of democracy".
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Borno State Government releases N130 million for Students’ Scholarships.

Borno state Governor, Kashim Shettima has released N130 million for immediate disbursement to students under the Borno state scholarship scheme.

Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Bello Ayuba stated this on Thursday while addressing newsmen on the issues of 2009/2010 internal students scholarship and 2010/2011/2012 outstanding students scholarship.

The Commissioner said, government did not only release for the immediate payment but also reviewed the scholarship from N1,820 to N10,000 for students in Pre-ND, Remedial, and Certificate courses.

Bello Ayuba said after the Ministry’s submission to Governor Shettima on the need to review students scholarship  the Governor deemed it fit to increase the students scholarship to a minimum of N10,000 for Pre-ND and Remedial as well as N20,000 for undergraduates.

He said, as for the Law students, who had been receiving N250,000 alongside a laptop, the latest review has also affected them positively as they are to receive N300,000. Now, with a laptop.

The Commissioner said, “There has not been any interview for scholarship in the state since 2009, and now that government has approved the money for scholarship, we are urging students who did not apply for scholarship to go and obtained the form at the rate of N150 for internal students of 2012/2013 session.”

According to him, government is doing everything to turn around the fortunes of students from no scholarship situation to something tangible, and as such, he urged the over 6,353 students under the Borno state scholarship to reciprocate the gesture by taking their studies seriously.
